Protective Mother and Child Advocate “Ruth Collins” lost custody, parental rights and visitation of her two children to her abusive ex when she spoke at a community forum about the dysfunction of the Maine Family Court system and the judge in her case took revenge!
She states: “I am a Survivor of Childhood Abuse and after the birth of my son (1996) and daughter (1998) I began my journey towards Activism, Self-Empowerment and Social Justice Advocacy. A few years later I co-founded a Non-Profit Organization with the mission to empower and protect the safety and well-being of children through a nationally established educational program. However, while I was experiencing personal growth as well as the success of the non-profit organization, my marriage began to fall apart.
I had been a full-time, stay-at-home mother for 10 years and my marriage had been one of service and servitude. The 2006 divorce was difficult but swift; my ex threatened to ‘put me on the streets’ but I was able to retain primary custody of my kids and restart our lives in a new place with a full-time job.
Another trip back into family court in 2009, caused me to uncover one of our nation’s best kept secrets: Domestic Violence by Proxy, Maternal Deprivation, Coercive Control and being forced into a life of indentured servitude. Even though I am a Crisis Advocate for a local Sexual Assault Organization and I have been a Child and Safety Advocate for over 10 years, I was unprepared for the ‘education’ via life experience that I was about to encounter. Within a year I was forced out my home with my two children and my abusive ex used this in court as leverage to get the kids to reside with him. He moved them 45 miles away and I was informed that I was only ‘permitted’ to see them 4 days a month.
The following year and a half was the most traumatic time of my life. My daughter voiced to me that she was being emotionally, mentally, and psychologically abused. I fought hard for reversal of residency in court, to have her back with me again, but I was soon to find out that the primary objective of my ex was to sever all of my parental rights at all costs.
In the midst of the trial that followed I happened to speak about the dysfunction of the family court system and the best interest of children at a community forum in Portland, Maine. Little did I know that the judge in my case was present at this event! Within 48 hours he finalized my trial and he took revenge. He stripped me not only of custody of both my kids but also of my parental rights and even made a footnote in the trial judgment about my appearance at the community event! The visitation arrangement was left up to my teenage kids. But by this time they had been so traumatized by all the upheaval that any contact with me would trigger their fear of their father’s wrath. They are now estranged from me.”
Ruth Collins dedicates her time to Advocacy and Legislative Reform. Her primary objective is to ensure that coercive control becomes illegal in the United States of America.
So what is a Protective Mother? A Protective Mother tries to protect her child or children from their abusive father by many means necessary, which is an uphill battle in today’s corrupt global Family Court system that thrives on paternal entitlement. Maternal Deprivation at the hands of abusive fathers has reached pandemic proportions! However, Protective Mothers worldwide are uniting to fight for the right to keep their children in what could be called a new Civil Rights movement.
Professional Fine Artist and College Professor Geerte Frenken is a Protective Mother fighting for her court-abducted daughter Jasmijn. She is the host of the CCN Live TV show HELL IS FOR CHILDREN about the global plight of Protective Mothers and their children that airs every Saturday at 3PM Eastern Time (21:00 Central European Time). Recordings of the shows are made available via youtube within a few days after each Live broadcast and are archived HERE as well.
