We were so proud to see Lainie Liberti and Miro Siegel on stage at a TED talk in Amsterdam last week. Lainie and Miro certainly have made their mark as true ambassadors of World Schooling, with their amazing initiative called PROJECT WORLD SCHOOL www.projectworldschool.com
There are very few people who inspire me more than Lainie Liberti and her son Miro Siegel. Having had the priviledge to working with them on CCN, has been one of the most amazing experiences for us as the CCN Producers. When Lainie first contacted me wanting to do a show about Alternative Education / Home Schooling / World Schooling / Self Directed and Interest driven learning at the beginning of 2015, nothing could have prepared me for the amazing journey that we were about to embark on. When Lainie first explained her concept to me, all I could say to her was, ” I have been waiting for you”.
Being deeply passionate about learning and growth, one of the things that I wanted to focus on as a network, was to create a learning platform for those who do not wish to follow conventional education. Not having any kids of my own, I had no idea of how to create a learning platform for growing children, or how I would begin to format a show of this nature, as learning is a matter that I take very seriously, and I did not want to make a hash job of it.
Enter Lainie, who hosts FOR THE LOVE OF LEARNING, VOICES OF THE ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION MOVEMENT on CCN, and it is by far one of our best shows. Her effort and dedication in creating this body of work is what made Lainie CCN’s Broadcaster of the Year for 2015.
CCN is so proud to see Lainie and Miro getting onto an international stage and sharing their very successful project and outlooks with the world at a recognised event such as TED talks. Perhaps we are not far from a time when all kids will know the kind of freedom that Miro has been lucky enough to experience. Miro’s delivery on stage made me realise that the leaders of a brighter future, will be kids like this. SHINE ON!
